This morning we head back our same path, except in bright sunshine.
After breakfast, John starts his day navigating the boat into a three point turn in a tight spot. When turning, you are focusing on not getting the nose stuck in the canal bank’s muck or the propeller in the back hitting really anything. Slowly and carefully, the turn is made, the crowd goes wild…or was that just me and my inner voices.
Yesterday, we were working the whole time against the current. Today the current pushes us along so fast. Perhaps the boat knows it is on its way home.
We pass through a swarm of swallows scooping up their breakfast, how do they fly, find food and swallow at the same time. I think they must just fly around with their mouth open and don’t give it much thought. Are they channeling their inner bug with their sudden turns and dive bombs.
The same country side as yesterday seems enlivened after the rain and now the sun, just like us. We are on our way at 7:38am, hoping to reach our night place by 7pm.
